God at Work in Leon

We had a wonderful time in Leon. We received great hospitality from Omar and Tana Palafox. We enjoyed seeing their wonderful children. We were even able to be there for Emma's sixth birthday. Emma you are a wonderful girl.  We had a great time with Shawn and Barbara Gary and their kids as well. I was so impressed with these two families and the work that God is accomplishing through them. Shawn and Barbara led the youth in their first youth retreat and it was a great success. We were able to see and spend a little time with the new AIMers that are still settling in, adjusting to culture. Thanks for the great time; John, Renato, Ramiro, Jedda, Ivanka and Trasa. We also saw Ben and Bill who are exAIMers still making a significant contribution to the work in Leon.

I was impressed with the church in Leon. They had a wonderful spirit. I was able to preach and they put up with my "chilango" Spanish, in reality, "gringo" Spanish. I did not get an exact count but there were well over 100, I guess around 120 in attendance. They obviously love one another, several of the men are taking leadership role. The adult classes are being taught by men in the congregation. The youth had their first retreat, staying at the building from Friday evening through time for the assembly on Sunday morning. We could tell that this was an important transformational time for them.

I also met a great family who are graduates from the school in Toluca and now working in Leon, the Rubios. I am encouraged to see what God is doing in Leon.

We arrived safely in Mexico City late last night (Monday the 29th). We feel like we are home walking into the Sunset House and sleeping in our old room. We look forward to being with Benjy and Carolyn Brednich this morning. Keep praying that the Lord would use us to listen, learn as he teaches us what He has in store for His kingdom in Mexico.

For Mexican Missions,
Jay

The picture is of a plaque on the Sunset House in Mexico City: "The Pink House...Founded in 1984 by Cline Paden." I think he actually bought the house in 1983.
